I can remember vividly, when my Madam ago employed me three years ago. I was very grateful towards her as the salary I opted for was higher than average. However, she still employed me among my group of friends that were more experienced and asked for lower salary.
After doing the paper work at the agency, my madam brought me home in her car. It was a BMW and a car that I saw for the very first time in my life. Upon reaching my new home, I was very surprised and could not believe that the three storey bungalow was what I was going to stay at. I counted myself very lucky to be employed and at the same time having such a rich employee. However, I did not know what lies ahead and as soon as I did I rather not be employed by this rich family.
Toys every where, with even broken heads from barbie dolls and cotton protruding from soft toys, I could see how messy my madam's son, Eddie, room was. The room was dark and gloomy, with ripped posters on the walls and debris from toys lying everywhere. My very first task was to clean up Eddie's room in an hour and I really could not believe someone who can live in a room with such conditions. Nevertheless, i cleaned up the room and left it speck and span within an hour and my madam was most impressed with my ability. However, I did not get to meet Eddie as he was in school. A few hours later, madam brought me out in her car, to buy groceries and fetch Eddie from school. Madam checked with me whether I knew how to cook and what I could cook and bought the ingredients for it. We left the supermarket for Eddie's school and waited for him to come out. At first sight, I could recognise Eddie as he really looked like his mother. Except for his unkempt hair, clothes that were stained with mud and his shoes that showed his foot. I could finally see how Eddie could live in his room in the conditions last time.
Upon reaching home, my madam told me to prepare dinner for her and I put in my best effort in doing it as it was my first cooking display and I did not want to disappoint them. Indeed, my efforts were paid off when my madam and sir complimented me on my fantastic cooking. however Eddie did not gave me face and said my cooking was horrible. He strode away without even touching his food and I could hear him slam his door behind him when he entered his room. I soon realise that problems in this house wasn't from the owners of the house but their son, Eddie as he was a trouble maker and did not like outsiders. When I was working there, he gave me a lot of trouble for example he always messes up his room for me to clean it up, stained his clothes and made life miserable for me to scrub them off, and worst of all whenever he broke anything he would put the blame on me and when I was interrogated by Eddie's parents he would laugh behind their backs.
One day, after one and a half year of suffering given by Eddie, I could not take it anymore. I blew my top when I cleaned up Eddie's room and I gave him a smack on his cheek. He couldn't take the pain and broke into tears, followed by calling his parents to complain. I left him in his room and went to my room to pack up my things as I knew I did something wrong and was going to be sent back to my country. However things weren't in my way. when madam reached home after fifteen minutes, she came to me and thanked me for teaching her son a lesson as she could not bring herself to hit her own son and was glad that I did it. I was most surprised and she brought me to her son's room followed by reprimanding her son in front of me.
A few days after I did not step into Eddie's room, I finally peeked into his room. It was totally different from what it was before. It was very clean, bright and simply the opposite of what it was before. I was surprised at his actions during dinner that very day too. Eddie had changed totally after that very day and I was glad he did.

ReplyDeleteIt is quite an interesting story and good structure of writing. I like the character Eddie although he gave “you” lots of troubles. It seems like you know very well what a maid’s life is like. Nice story! :)
